Research and improvement of the catenary system connections

The maintenance experience indicates that many connection units of catenary system require to be upgraded. For example, most damages occur at the trolley frogs,when passing an artificial structure overhead system.

Within this work line, UCS performs an analysis of unsatisfactory connection functionality causes, based on the maintenance and functionality modeling data in different maintenance conditions, taking eventual mounting fault into account. The connections’ improvement technical solutions as well as the design and mounting requirements are determined pursuant to the analysis results.

In particular, UCS has carried out a research on reliability improvement of overhead frogs, padding sections, midpoint anchoring, artificial structure clearway connections, boosting cable wires, etc. Modified technical solutions are depicted and listed in the type designs, issued by UCS.
