Standardized designs for speeds up to 200-250 km/h

In 2005, JSC UCN developed new designs of catenary systems for speeds up to 200-250 km/h with respect to the operation experience of KS-200 developed in 1995-1997, experience of European countries and new technologies and capabilities of Russian industry.

New constructions (KS-250E design) were tested on the Kalashnikovo – Likhoslavl’ railway section of the Oktyabrskaya Railway in 2005-2006.

In 2006, with respect to our design and operation experience, we developed the standardized design of the KS-200-06K catenary suspension for speeds up to 200 km/h and in 2007 we developed the KS-200-07 (32-07) for speeds up to 250 km/h.

Now the KS-200-06-K and KS-200-07 (32-07) catenary systems are used for modernization of the Saint Petersburg — Moscow and Saint Petersburg – Buslovskaya railways. The KS-200-06-K catenary system is designed for speeds up to 200 km/h in the mode of full reconstruction. The KS-200-07(32-07) catenary system is designed for upgrading of the existing KS-200 catenary system to support speeds up to 250 km/h.

In May 2009, the high-speed train Sapsan at preliminary testing on the Moscow – Saint Petersburg railway set the new speed record of Russian railways reaching 290 km/h.

The Moscow – Saint Petersburg railway meets all the requirements of the TSI ENE Technical Specification of Operation Compliance with the “Energy” Subsystem and of EN50119 “Usage at Railways. Stationary equipment. Electric operation catenary system».
